Saturday night was more than alright!

Elton John comes to Leigh. Yes, you read that right. THE Elton John, Sir Elton John donned his sparkly suit and trademark quirky glasses and treated Leigh to one amazing gig that the town will never forget. The music legend used to playing Ceasers Palace in Vegas and big arenas worldwide hopped in a helicopter and made his way to the town usually known for Rugby League and performed for 17000 locals at the ground home to Leigh Centurions http://www.leighsportsvillage.co.uk/.  He told the crowd ‘I’d rather play here than Manchester arena. I want to come to places where there are no other places to play than the local football stadium.  I much prefer it to being in city arenas because I get to see people that I wouldn’t get to see anywhere else. I still love doing what I do’
The sun was shining, the drinks were flowing and everyone enjoyed dancing along to his famous hits. The ones that seemed to be a crowd favourite were Dont let the sun go down on me, to which Elton received a roaring cheer when he replaced the me with leigh, I’m still standing and I guess thats why they call it the blues.
The gig was well organised, one of the best ive been to in fact. Leigh did ourselves proud, proving that it is possible for people to have a few drinks, soak up the atmosphere and have an all round fantastic time without any trouble being caused.
The night ended with Elton signing autographs and an encore of Are you ready for love and crocodile rock. There were no gimmicks,  no costume changes and not a fire work in sight. Just one man on stage with his piano, his band and doing what he loves – singing and entertaining a crowd that had a bloody good time! Im positive that not a single person who went last night would have anything bad to say and im even more certain that there will be a few bad heads this morning.
All that’s left to be said now is…..who is the next superstar coming? Oh and did the main man himself get to try some lobby while he was in town???
